How ‘Hands On Play’ started

I’m Katy Miller, a devoted wife and mommy living in a beautiful town called Nelspruit, situated in South Africa. I grew up with two loving parents, both of whom have worked in education. So in a way I was born to teach! My true passion is teaching younger learners as I know how important the early years are to create the correct building blocks for their future. I have been an early childhood educator for over 10 years and would still be in a classroom if it wasn’t for multiple chronic health problems.

The idea of ‘Hands On Play’ boxes came to me during the Covid-19 Lockdown. I spent a lot of time creating a ‘hands on play’ environment for my daughter who was four years old at the time. I received a lot of positive feedback from friends and family asking about activities that I was doing with my daughter. This is where the seed was planted and has grown into an amazing opportunity to impact on the lives of little ones even though I’m not in a physical classroom. I am extremely creative and love coming up with new ideas and concepts to aid learning in a fun and play-orientated way. Thank you for joining us on this journey to play, discover and learn.
